Farming
Sheep and Cows at Gella Bridge.
Sheep in Glen Doll
Above: Sheep at the raodside in Glen Doll.
Left: Cattle and sheep.

As with all of the Angus Glens the types of farming in the glen depends on the geography.

Clova has a wide alluvial plane and steep sided, heather covered hills therefore sheep are prevalent, especially at the top of the glen (please be aware that sheep are not philosophers, and do have a tendency to wander, free-range, along the road).

As you move further down the glen there are more cattle kept. The low ground allows forage crops to be grown.

The river is prone to flooding, especially in the winter and spring (when the snow melts) which reduces the growing season as the ground has to be dry enough to drive a tractor across before anything can be planted.
