There is a wide variety of types of farmland in the area, governed by the geography.

At the top of the glens there are predominantly large sheep farms, grazing the heather.

As you move south, it changes to upland farms. The ground is slightly better here supporting a mixture of sheep, cattle and arable farming.

At the bottom of the glens, and at the edge of the Strathmore Valley the ground is much better therefore you will find large arable, beef and dairy farms.
