Menmuir is situated in the heart of farming country at the foot of the Angus Glens, offering easy access to all five Glens. The population is a scattered one, living mainly in farmhouses or cottages. The area's combination of a pleasant rural environment yet close proximity to the facilities of Brechin and Edzell makes it attractive to both incomers and visitors alike. The cities of Dundee and Aberdeen, along with Royal Deeside via the Cairn O' Mount are less than an hour's drive away.

The "Menmuir area" also covers the neighbouring villages of Careston, Little Brechin, Tannadice, Fern and Finavon.
